Local teams face off for a good cause at Heave for Hospice
A fantastic month of raising much-needed funds for the Nelson Tasman hospice will culminate on Friday, 31st May, with the MoreFM Heave for Hospice.
Upper Trafalgar Street will come alive from 4pm, where local teams, organisations, businesses and even councils will face-off against each other in a mighty tug-of-war battle, with ultimate bragging rights and the Heave Heavyweight trophy up for grabs.
As the final event of the NBS Hands up for Hospice appeal, this event will be the last pull to get over the appeal’s $100,000 fundraising goal finish line.
Donna Ching-Tregidga, Head of Supporter Engagement and Income Development at Nelson Tasman Hospice says: “We are really excited for the “MoreFM Heave for Hospice” this Friday, which will be our final event this May. We want to acknowledge and thank all of the many individuals, businesses and community groups that have put their “Hands Up for Hospice” this month. There have been so many different events and fundraisers all across the region and we hope to see as many of our supporters as possible at the Top of Trafalgar Street to celebrate coming together for Nelson Tasman Hospice.”
Registrations are now closed but there are some highly anticipated tug battles confirmed for the afternoon’s agenda, including:
- Tasman Mako versus NBS Nelson Giants
- Nelson City Council versus Tasman District Council
- Gibbons Naylor versus Scott Construction
- Beca versus WSP
Fans vs. Fins
Kids aged 8 to 14 years will also have the opportunity to show off their strength with the Fans vs. Fins round, which will see a team of local children going up against the Tasman Mako team.
With all of the upper Trafalgar Street businesses putting on a Hospice Happy Hour from 4-6pm as well as a DJ providing the tunes, there will be quite the festival atmosphere for our spectators and teams.
Come along and support Nelson Tasman Hospice’s last heave over the line this appeal month.
