Nelson Tasman Hospice is delighted to acknowledge and thank Pub Charity for its generous grant supporting the role of our Medical Director, Dr Jodie Battley

As the demand for hospice services continues to grow across our region, the support of community-minded funding partners such as Pub Charity plays a vital role in ensuring patients and their families receive the specialist care they need, when they need it most.

As Medical Director, Dr Jodie Battley provides expert clinical leadership across the organisation, helping to ensure the highest standard of palliative care is available to patients throughout the Nelson Tasman region.

Her role encompasses far more than direct patient care. Dr Battley supports and guides the hospice’s multidisciplinary team, contributes to the development of clinical best practice, mentors healthcare professionals, and works closely with community partners to ensure seamless care for patients and whānau.

By leading with expertise, compassion, and a commitment to excellence, Dr Battley helps ensure every patient receives care that prioritises comfort, dignity, and quality of life.

Jodie graduated from Otago Medical School before moving to Ireland, where she trained and worked in both oncology and palliative medicine. She completed her advanced training in Palliative Medicine in 2016 and has contributed extensively to the field through research, publications, and the development of national palliative care clinical guidelines in Ireland.

Her expertise, compassion, and commitment to excellence are invaluable to our organisation and the patients we serve. Thank you Dr Jodie, for the work that you do.

Pub Charity’s grant towards Dr Battley’s role helps ensure Nelson Tasman Hospice can continue providing specialist clinical leadership that underpins the care around 800 patients across our region each year.
