Rātā Foundation doubles down
A big thank you to the Rātā Foundation for granting Nelson Tasman Hospice two $20,000 grants earlier this year.
The first grant went towards operational costs of the Nelson Tasman Hospice Trust’s services in the community. Enabling our clinical teams to do the amazing work they do for the community, takes an engine behind them. Our operational costs cover rudimentary day to day costs such as insurance, utility costs and payroll. Largely unseen costs which are essential to any organisation to enable them to continue to operate.
The second grant went towards strengthening our sector and a socio-economic study that demonstrates the social and economic value of hospice palliative care in Aotearoa. Our CE Tony Gray has been tirelessly working at a national level for the past few years towards a sustainable Hospice model for Aotearoa. This grant goes towards the essential work being done in this space and ensuring the sustainability of not only Nelson Tasman Hospice into the future but the Hospice sector as a whole. Tony explains “As a hospice sector, we have formed a Hospice Equity and Sustainability (E&S) Working Group with the intention of developing a model by which greater collaboration between hospices can better support the health reforms, and the work towards a more connected and integrated health experience, for patients, family and whānau, in our communities”. We acknowledge that it takes a community to make a Hospice happen. Thank you Rātā Foundation for being part of our compassionate community and enabling Nelson Tasman Hospice to continue to care for our community.
Community grants are integral to the sustainability of our Hospice; if you know of any Trusts or Foundations that may consider supporting our essential service work please let us know.
