The Lion Foundation continues their support of our Registered Nurses

A big thank you to The Lion Foundation for granting Nelson Tasman Hospice a grant towards the cost of two Registered Nurses salaries.

At Nelson Tasman Hospice Trust, we have a team of 47 clinical colleagues, employed both on part time and full-time basis delivering the highest quality specialist palliative care to patients and their families/whānau. Our Nurses are an integral part of this team working in our Specialist Palliative Care Unit and in the community. 80% of our care is provided in the Community in people’s homes.  Our Registered Nurses also provide support in aged residential care facilities and at Nelson Hospital as well as deliver a range of educational services to a wide variety of   both clinical and caregivers.

All services provided by our Registered Nurses are in conjunction with the wider clinical team at Nelson Tasman Hospice and other health care providers and organisations in the region.  People with life-limiting illnesses need a holistic approach to their care, not only focusing on physical symptoms but also supporting patients and their whānau with the social, emotional, and spiritual impact of their illness. The level of care we provide is based on the needs of the patient and whānau.

We acknowledge that it takes a community to make a Hospice happen. Thank you to The Lion Foundation for being part of our compassionate community and empowering Nelson Tasman Hospice registered nurses, along with their colleagues, to provide specialist palliative care services for people of all ages with life-limiting illnesses, supporting them, their whānau and carers, through illness, death and bereavement.
