Hospice and Harcourts – an unwavering commitment to helping New Zealanders ‘live every moment’
A big thank you to the Harcourts Foundation for renewing its commitment to the Hospice New Zealand Grants Programme.
This month Nelson Tasman Hospice received $2937.70 from the Harcourts Foundation, to purchase 10 telephone headsets for our clinical and community nursing teams to conduct telehealth services across the Nelson Tasman Region, increasing the reach and availability to our hospice services and helping address inequity of service in our rural areas.
Tony Gray, Chief Executive of Nelson Tasman Hospice says that the need to address inequitable access to hospice services is a national issue.
“Ensuring that patients and their whānau have access to our clinical team; nurses, social workers, psychologists, counsellors and spiritual and pastoral care can enable them to live well until they leave well. The identified need for more frequent and accessible telehealth appointments can give patients and carers the comfort and confidence they need to feel reassured in their care.”
Established in 2017, the Hospice New Zealand Grants Programme has seen more than $300,000 granted to hospices throughout the country so they can purchase much needed specialised equipment.
The ongoing cost of living crisis and underfunding by government has hit the sector hard, so now more than ever this ongoing support is making a difference.
We acknowledge that it takes a community to make a Hospice happen. Thank you, Harcourts Foundation, for being part of a compassionate community and empowering Nelson Tasman Hospice to care for our community.
Community grants are integral to the sustainability of our Hospice; if you know of any Trusts or Foundations that may consider supporting our essential service work, please let us know.
