Update on the new build
The new building is on track to welcome patients and staff in March 2019.
Right now, the main building is closed in. Gibbons project manager Sean Gardner says 80 percent of the cladding is completed.
“We’re working on installing the services now – that’s all your wiring, plumbing and other services such as fire protection, data/comm, security and nurse call. All that needs to be pre-wired before we put on the wall linings.”
Insulation was starting to be installed and would take a while to cover the entire 2388 sq m building.
Sean says about 50 people per day are on site at the moment.
The family flat, which will have four bedrooms and two bathrooms, is not quite so far along, as builders needed to wait until overhead power lines could be taken down.
“The foundation’s done and the framing is on site. It’s still on track to be finished in time.”
Sean said painting, joinery, flooring and the connection of services were the last things that would need to be done and he expected the whole project to be completed on time.
