Palliative Care for Caregivers starts Friday 7 August 2026 over 4 weeks

August 7 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This programme is for Heath Care Assistants (HCAs), Support Workers and Caregivers working in Aged Care and Community Assisted Living Homes and is Not for Nurses, Allied Health or the general public.

  • This workshop is 2 hours per session over 4 weeks and attendees must attend all 4 sessions to gain the Hospice NZ Palliative Care Certificate.
  • The education is endorsed by Hospice New Zealand and a certificate will be awarded on completion of the programme.

Topics covered include:

  • Principles of palliative care
  • Managing physical symptoms
  • Care in the last days of life
  • Communication
  • Understanding loss and grief
  • Spirituality and self-care

Target audience: Target audience: Heath care assistants, Support workers and Caregivers working in rest homes & community homes (Not for Nurses, Allied Health or the general public)

Max attendees 20: Early registration is advised.

Cost: No charge

Dates: (Attendees must attend all 4 sessions to gain the HNZ certificate)
