The second annual Nelson Airport Trees of Remembrance campaign launched this month, bringing festive cheer…
Mowsworth Rampage 2024
12.5 hours and 86kms of dusty driving later, the 46 participants finally made it to Hanmer Springs via the Molesworth on Saturday 19th of October 2024.
With over $57k raised and still climbing, we can’t thank all the participants and support crews enough for their incredible fundraising efforts for Nelson Tasman Hospice and Cancer Society Nelson Tasman.
Thank you’s –
• A huge thank you to Stuart Newport. Without you this day was not possible. Now we can say all the work around postponing the first event was worth it. The help and support from your team at Richmond Glass never goes unnoticed, and of course from Erin and your children.
• To Jim, the Molesworth Station Manager, for your support with this event & the amazing cakes provided by your team in the kitchen.
• Gerry from The Shot Nelson Coffee Cart for serving us up a warm brew at the starting line.
• Jackie from Hato Hone St John Nelson and Tasman Bays.
• Rapid Relief Team NZ for the yummy cake, apples & water for morning & afternoon tea.
• To Fulton Hogan for the loan of your community BBQ trailer, and to Stu’s extended family for lending a hand with lunch prep.
• Simon, from Hirschmann’s Mower & Machinery Repairs LTD for being a magician when it came to fixing any mowers that needed it! What a star!
• The Hanmer Springs police – Canterbury Police – Hurunui District, for escorting the mowers through the Hanmer town centre for their victory lap upon completion of this incredible journey.
• Hirepool Ltd for the portaloo’s.
• Janelle & Hanmer Springs Rugby Club for hosting the prize-giving and for all your fundraising work.
• The Hurunui District Council for granting us the fee waiver for venue hire
• To Jim from Rusty Carrot Catering for the delicious nibbles at the end of a big day!
It was a gruelling, dusty, and long journey but everyone worked together and pushed through to get to the end. We heard many stories about people’s loved ones and the reasons they were on this ride. Much like people’s journeys when they are on our service, the support from all of those around you are what makes the journey easier, and this ride really showed how to live every moment.
