Summit Keir Wilkinson Memorial Golf Tournament 2024
The third Summit Keir Wilkinson Memorial Golf Tournament took place on Friday, September 13th, at the Nelson Golf Club, with 36 teams teeing off for a great cause: supporting the Nelson Tasman Hospice. It was a full day of fun, friendly competition, and an exciting auction, all raising an incredible $59,287.50!
Since it started in 2022, this heartfelt event has raised over $160,000 for Nelson Tasman Hospice.
It was a grey & blustery Friday but spirits were high and the golfers were well looked after with goodie bags for each team and delicious fish burgers, bacon butties, salmon & coleslaw and a sausage sizzle dotted all the way around the course thanks to sponsors Nelson New World, Bidfood, Mad Butcher, E’stell, Sealords, New World Stoke and King Salmon.
Each hole on the golf course was sponsored by local businesses keen to support Nelson Tasman Hospice and these sponsorships added to the impressive total raised. Our hole sponsors in 2024 were: Summit Real Estate, Kiwi Journeys, Nelson Coachlines, Summit Stoke Team, Forsyth Barr, Spark, Nelson Interiors, Orange Joinery, MS Ford, Bob Pugh Builders Ltd, Pak n Save, Mahana Solutions, Radcliffes, Fitzgerald Construction, The Car Company, Coman Construction, Brown and Associates, NTay Contracting, Murchison Motels, MediaWorks, BNZ and Expelco. Many of these sponsors have been part of the tournament every year and we are very thankful for their support.
The rain started late in the day with two holes left to play but our hardy golfers stuck it out and made it back to the clubrooms for the prizegiving, auction and raffles.
The winner on the day was Sealord, the reigning champions from the previous year, with Stacey’s Clothing coming in second place. The team prizes this year were generously donated by: Spark, Ping, NBS, Total Golf, Summit, Caythorpe Wine, Joe’s Garage, Supertyre and Tasman Mako.
Some amazing auction prizes were on offer and there was a huge amount of raffles to be won all kindly donated by local businesses such as: Maruia Springs, The Cutting Bar, Xscape Space, Nelson Tasman Hospice Shops, Office Product Depot – Richmond, Hogarth Chocolate, Pics Peanut Butter, Silky Otter, Nicola Deane (Travel Advocates), Pestells, Tozzetti Café, JB Hifi, dbc Design.
A huge thanks to all the teams, sponsors and participants who made the day happen!
A special thanks to Glyn Delany and his team for all their hard work, making this event a success year after year.
Thank you to the Nelson Golf Club for the most picturesque venue.
Most importantly, thank you to Keir and his family for allowing us to honour him and his legacy in this way.
A successful day of golf, bring on next year!
