Trees of Remembrance

As the holiday season approaches, the Nelson Tasman region once again welcomes the heartfelt return of Trees of Remembrance. These trees symbolise more than just festive decorations; they offer an opportunity to support Nelson Tasman Hospice and remember those who can’t be with us during Christmas.

We have just completed another busy community trees of remembrance appeal with volunteers stationed at Nelson New World, the Nelson market, Stoke Countdown, Richmond Mall, Westpac Motueka & House of Travel Motueka – thank you to all of you who took the opportunity to leave a tag on a tree when you spotted our trees in the community.

Trees of Remembrance are also on display at Farmers stores in Nelson and Richmond. Farmers stores will again be selling their annual Hospice NZ bauble for $15.99, although this is part of a national hospice fundraising campaign for Farmers, all funds raised locally, stay locally. This years limited-edition Christmas bauble is adorned with beautiful Pōhutukawa flowers.

Nelson Airport Trees of Remembrance: In 2023 for the very first time, Trees of Remembrance will also be lighting up Nelson Airport. The trees at the airport are sponsored and decorated by local businesses who have actively chosen to support Nelson Tasman Hospice this Christmas. Dame Suzie Moncrieff, Founder of World of WearableArt, will judge the Most Creative prize and you can vote for People’s Choice between the 1st of December and the 11th of January. Anonymous business donors have sponsored a tree for Nelson Tasman Hospice, so we have dedicated our 8ft tree to the community that support our Hospice service every year, including business donors, our retail stores and our treasured volunteers. Head down to Nelson Airport to see some of the smiling faces that support us in raising our $3.5M shortfall every year so we can continue delivering free specialist palliative care to the Nelson Tasman region.
