Lottery Community Grant supports Allied Health Services at Nelson Tasman Hospice
A big Thank You to the Lottery West Coast/Nelson/Marlborough Community Committee for granting Nelson Tasman Hospice $47,727.00 towards supporting the operational cost of our Allied Health programme acknowledging the importance of this work to support our patients and the whānau/family from a holistic perspective.
The Allied Health professionals at Nelson Tasman Hospice work as part of an interdisciplinary team with the nurses and doctors. Allied Health professionals include Clinical Psychology, Psychotherapy, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Pastoral care, and Bereavement Support.
As an example of our Allied Health teams’ work in the community, our team of Social Workers are specialists in working with those facing a life-limiting illness and are also experienced in liaising and collaborating with other community organisations to support patients with practical support. This includes benefit or pension queries, housing or residential care options, legal matters such as the power of attorney, advanced care planning and funeral planning. Some of the agencies and organisations this team regularly liaise with include Age Concern, Te Piki Oranga, Motueka Community House, Victory Community Centre, Alzheimer’s Society, Kainga Ora, The Women’s House, Whakatu Marae and Ministry of Social Development.
We acknowledge that it takes a community to make a Hospice happen. Thank you, Lottery West Coast/Nelson/Marlborough Community Committee, for being part of a compassionate community and empowering Nelson Tasman Hospice to care for our community.
Community grants are integral to the sustainability of our Hospice; if you know of any Trusts or Foundations that may consider supporting our essential service work, please let us know.
