NBS Donates over $90,000 to Local Hospices

NBS, a financial institution providing personal and business banking services to local people for over 160 years, announced today that it is donating $90,600 to three regional hospices due to the success of a recent campaign to attract new deposit funds.

During the month of March, NBS launched a market-leading 8-month term investment special under the banner of “an investment that gives back”.  For every new account opened, NBS offered $200 to go to the hospice closest to where the account was opened.  Across all 8 of the organisation’s branches, the NBS team opened an amazing 453 new term investment accounts, meaning a total of $90,600 will be distributed to Nelson Tasman, Mid Canterbury and Buller West Coast Hospices.

The majority of accounts were opened in the Nelson Tasman region, resulting in a total of $73,400 being raised for the Nelson Tasman Hospice.

Chief Executive of NBS, Tony Cadigan, expressed his delight at the result, stating that “offering our clients competitive term investment rates, matched with a donation to a crucial local charity, has been hugely successful.  We would like to thank all our clients for their support and for making these donations possible.”

Donna Ching-Tregidga, Head of Supporter Engagement & Income Development at Nelson Tasman Hospice was blown away by the donation and says it is an unexpected, but very welcome addition to the hospice’s fundraising efforts.

“Every year we must raise a shortfall of $3.5 million so we can continue to offer all our services for free, so every dollar counts. We are extremely grateful to NBS and value the special relationship that we have with them. Not only are they our banking provider, but they really understand the importance of the work we do in the community and the difference we can make to the lives of patients and their families.

NBS is owned by its clients and committed to serving the communities in which they operate. This model allows them to provide meaningful financial support to the community through sponsorships and grants to hundreds of sporting, arts, health, educational, and environmental organisations. Over the last 2 years, NBS has invested $2.2 million back into the community.
