The Lion Foundation Continues Their Support of Our Registered Nurses
We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Lion Foundation for their generous grant towards the salaries of two Registered Nurses at Nelson Tasman Hospice.
Supporting Compassionate Care
At Nelson Tasman Hospice, we are proud of our dedicated team of 45 clinical colleagues—working both part-time and full-time—who deliver high-quality specialist palliative care to patients and their whānau. Our Registered Nurses play a vital role within this team, providing care not only in our Specialist Palliative Care Unit but also out in the community, where 80% of our services take place in patients’ homes.
Our nurses also support those in aged residential care, collaborate with Nelson Hospital, and deliver education and training to both clinical professionals and caregivers across the region.
A Holistic Approach
We believe palliative care should address more than just physical symptoms. Our Registered Nurses work closely with the wider clinical team and other healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach, supporting patients and their families through the emotional, social, and spiritual challenges of life-limiting illness.
A Community Effort
It truly takes a community to make hospice care possible. We are deeply grateful to The Lion Foundation for being part of our compassionate community and empowering our nurses and other colleagues to provide essential care for people of all ages—supporting them through illness, death, and bereavement.
Help Us Continue
Community grants like this one are crucial to the sustainability of Nelson Tasman Hospice. If you know of any Trusts or Foundations that may be interested in supporting our essential services, we’d love to hear from you.
