Palliative Care for Caregivers (4 x 2 hr sessions) Starts Thurs 6 June 24

This workshop has been designed for Health Care Assistants & Support Workers working in Aged Residential Care or the community to improve their knowledge and understanding of palliative care. The education is endorsed by Hospice New Zealand. Participants must attend all four sessions to gain the Hospice New Zealand palliative care certificate.

  • This programme is not suitable for family members looking after their family/whanau.

Participants must attend all four sessions to gain the Hospice New Zealand palliative care certificate.

• Please note, this workshop is 2 hours per session over 4 weeks and attendees must attend all 4 sessions to gain the Hospice NZ certificate.

Topics covered include:

  • Principles of palliative care
  • Managing physical symptoms
  • Care in the last days of life
  • Communication
  • Understanding loss and grief
  • Spirituality and self-care

Target audience: Heath care assistants, Support workers and Caregivers working in rest homes & community homes

Max attendees 20: Early registration is advised.

Cost: No charge

Dates: (Attendees must attend all 4 sessions to gain the HNZ certificate)

Day 1: Thursday 6 June 2024

Day 2: Thursday 13 June 2024

Day 3: Thursday 20 June 2024

Day 4: Thursday 27 June 2024

Time: 1300 – 1500 (Attendendees are asked to arrive 10 minutes early to sign in.
