Volunteers at Nelson Tasman Hospice fulfil more than 35 different roles. Many of these roles have come about as a result of someone offering us their specific and sometimes unique skills – both patient and non-patient based. Retail Extraordinaire

Do you have a passion for retail and enjoy assisting people….. then join the team who turns second-hand goods into first class care.
The Richmond Shop is on the move which means we are expanding our team of dedicated and friendly volunteers.
We need sorters, steamers, shop floor and sales assistants.
Shifts available are weekdays Mornings 9.30-1pm, Afternoons 1pm – 4.30pm and Saturdays 9.30am-1pm.

Coordinator of Our Raffle Services in Nelson

This volunteer position is involved in coordinating and helping to organise the regular monthly raffles plus occasional raffle stands at some fundraising events if required. The time commitment is 4 -8 hours per month and can be based from volunteers home or the office. The ability to work with a variety of people is essential and some computer skills would be an advantage.

Casual Raffle Volunteers (Nelson, Stoke, Richmond)

This team plays an important part of our fundraising by holding monthly raffles over the region. To support the regular team we require volunteers who maybe able to sit in a 2 hour shift if the usual volunteer is unavailable. These positions could be area specific or float across the 3 areas.

Massage Volunteer

This role offers relaxation massage to patients in the inpatient unit or community patients, and occasionally their caregivers. The volunteer must have a formal qualification and experience in massage along with a good understanding of the limitations of their specific scope of practice.

Bed and Equipment volunteers

This is a special but vital role for the community team. Working in pairs to deliver, install or dismantle and return beds and other essential equipment enabling patients to remain at home. Volunteers need a reasonable level of fitness but also be sensitive and flexible around patients and families.

Shop Pick up/Delivery Service

Are you a welcoming, friendly and reliable person who is physically fit. We currently require volunteers throughout the week. Morning shifts 9.30am – 12.30 and afternoon shifts 1pm- 4pm.

This service ensures that good quality donations are received and despatched in a timely manner as well as making sure our shops are well stocked.
