It will be a FUN session and all proceeds are going to a good cause.BONUS\, all participants will receive a raffle ticket on arrival to go into the draw to win the raffle that’s worth over $800! SUMMARY:The Better Endings Project: How to support care of the dying and create compassionate communities
DESCRIPTION:This course is primarily aimed at people who find themselves supporting & caring for people with serious illness & approaching end of life or those anticipating this situation. \nWhat is the Better Endings Project? \nMany people want to die at home\, yet in New Zealand most die in institutions like hospitals and nursing homes. The Better Endings Project is about educating the community on the basics of caring for people who are dying. \nWhat does Nelson Tasman Hospice offer? \nThis simple course aims to create awareness and discussion on topics related to death and dying. The facilitators will aim to give practical tips on how you can provide comfort to someone who is dying\, and what you can do to plan for your own and your family’s future. It is an interactive course for up to 20 participants. \nParticipants will learn: \n– What normal dying looks like\n– How compassionate communities can improve care of dying\n– Why end of life planning is important and what resources are available\n– Simple measures to provide comfort at end of life\n– About the sanctity of the last hours/days of life and how to cope and support others after death \nThis course is free however places are limited so registrations are compulsory.
