Play supports Hospice – Come along!
June 29 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm$75
A steamy tale awaits; one of incestuous passion, greed and family tyranny – all under the cover of Victorian era respectability.
Award-winning playwright Michelanne Forster and director Giles Burton are putting on a gala reading of the play Larnach – Castle of Lies – a winner of Best Radio Drama. Alongside a cast lead by Helen Moulder will be a musical interlude with soprano Allison Cormack and pianist Pauline Boyd
Wine, catering and optional evening dress are all part of the fun.
William Larnach was a fascinating character, who had an important and ultimately tragic role in New Zealand’s colonial history.
A wealthy banker and politician who built a lavish mock Baronial castle on the Otago peninsula, he had married for the third time and seemed to be at the height of his power and influence when he took his own life in the Wellington Parliament buildings. What dark family secrets pushed him over the edge?
Tickets are $75 and available from Eventbrite .
